Important Question about TAG & TAP

So I’m a California Community College student. I’m applying for Fall 2017 as an Engineering student, and in August or September I created a TAP account in order to apply to UC Irvine for TAG.

However, when applying to other UCs such as UCLA, does this mean I say that I’m TAP certified (since I created a TAP account and input all my coursework) or is there a different process for that?

You’re confusing your TAP account (Transfer Admission Planner) with UCLA TAP (Transfer Alliance Program). UCLA TAP is a transfers program for students that completed the honors program at their CCC. The main benefit is the priority consideration for admissions to the College of Letters and Science. I don’t think it will work for Engineering students.

There are three TAPs - and all are different. The UC seems to have a limited adjective vocabulary, despite its claim of being a top educational institution.

(1) The first TAP, the Transfer Admission Planner, is simply the planner you use to conveniently add stuff that can later be auto-inserted into the UC application. This is what you signed into.

(2) UCLA has an unrelated honors-based TAP - the Transfer Alliance Program.

(3) UCB has its own separate unrelated TAP - the Transfer Alliance Project (note how the cleverly switched out Program for Project). It is not honors-based and is a support program for minorities, low income, and first gen.

– I’m surprised they didn’t work the TAU (Transfer Academic Update), which you fill out in January after you submit you application, to Transfer Academic Progression (TAP) or similar.

Thank you both for the information.
