is a cr/m combined score of 1370 ok if the cumulative score (of the entire sat) is a 2170?? I heard penn wasn’t really looking at the writing section, but i got an 800 on it so it helps me alot…any advice?

whered you hear that theyre not counting writing? I hope they are cuz writing is my best score too. Im sure even if they dont officially count it theyll still see that you have an amazing writing score, which will help you.

thanx for the help...this sat stuff is SO frustrating...any one else? bump?

take 2/3 of your combined highest in all three sections and that will give you an estimate of your 1600 score

no, that's a bad idea... lol, actually not really in theory, but it wouldn't make sense to scale down to 1600 when the nat. average for writing could be 460...

nah i was saying add up all your highest scores.....say you got a 2400...take 2/3 of that and it would be a 1600.....say if you got a 1950...take 2/3 that converts to a 1300

i know, my point is, without knowing the true scale of the writing, which could very well be higher/lower than the nat average is supposed to be (around 500) it would be pointless to do that, so i just stick with m+v, and think of writing as an sat II

Where have ppl heard that they will be taking 2/3 of your total score at Penn? If they are not counting writing this year, then that doesn't seem to make sense.

nah the coach was told that say for me....if they want to get an idea of what my 1600 score would have been...since they changed everything....theyd take 2/3 of it...but its not like theyre not counting writing.

cdeitz - you're right - I didn't mean to say they aren't being counted, they are just not being weighted as heavily as the M and V this year.

yeah our class got kinda screwed over in a way...i dunno if its beneficial or not

well... it hurts me, cuz if it was m+v i'm at a smooth 1510, but then you add my writing and it's a 2180
