i SERIOUSLY need to improve my scores. on the plus side (i guess) i didn't prepare for this particular SAT but i'm retaking it in May or June. is there any way i can improve my overall score by 300+ points? I'm willing to work hard. What books are the best to practice with?

Get the real SAT book put out by the College Board. See if your local library has free online help such as Prep Me. I'd suggest that you really work hardest on that math score- if you can bring it over 600, it will probably make a big difference in admissions.

I've been going around threads recommending Barron's CR Workbook. I probably look like I work for Barron's now (I don't), but I really recommend it for you. My CR score was lower than yours, but on practice tests (and one real SATI test) I've been regularly scoring in the 700's. (Like you, I'm going to take the SATI in May.)

After your done with the Barron's CR book, do a bunch of practice tests from the BB. It will get easier from there, you'll learn how to "pace" yourself and the strategies will become second nature to you.

Good luck!

Edit: I've been studying out Barron's for the Math, but I haven't finished it and haven't taken a practice test since starting it. So, I can't recommend it to you. Everyone says Gruber's is better for SATI Math, though.
