" I’d like to invite you to our Overnight Open House for accepted students on April 18th 20th. The Diversity Recruitment Program offers to fund admitted students who we believe have the potential to contribute to the cultural and/or socioeconomic diversity at Amherst. If you choose to attend the Open House, our office will purchase an airline, train, or bus ticket for you and will arrange for your transportation to and from campus. We can fly you in a day early so that you can fully participate in activities beginning on Sunday morning. Once here, your meals, housing, and entertainment will be provided through the Admitted Student Open House Committee."

Should I go? I think I should go. Input, please!

GO! Yours is not to wonder why, it is to wonder, why not? or something like that. It is an opportunity of a lifetime. Unless something huge is preventing it, you don’t pass up these things. Go for it.

I just received that same e-mail! I live in the US though, so I suppose it’s not just for international students! (Totally going, by the way. No question whatsoever!)

I’m not an ‘international’ student, per se, I just kinda live outside of the US = D Yeeaarrhhhsss, I e-mailed the dean to ask if they would still fund my trip, even though I live outside of the US. I’m definitely using this to make my college decision. I am currently in Daedalus’ labyrinth, I don’t know whether I should go to Rice or Amherst. I <3 Amherst. I <3 Rice. I feel adulterous and dirty - a high-class trollop = (

I myself participated in this program, and it solidified my interest in Amherst. Also, participating in this program will dramatically increase your chances of acceptance at Amherst. So I must strongly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.
