In a hole..

Hey everyone. So basically, I am a sophomore right now studying Management (Finance) at Case Western Reserve University. During my freshman year I was majoring in Biology and did not do so well... I got a 2.7 gpa that year. I decided to switch to business the summer before this semester and I really enjoyed it. I have not gotten all my grades yet, but I should get around a 3.8 to a 4.0 this semester. That will raise my gpa to around a 3.1-3.2. I know that I have to do my best from now on to have a shot at a decent grad school/ job when I graduate, but is there anything else I can do to make up for my crap freshman year? I am confident that I have the ability to make it into a good mba school or get a good job, but I feel like the 2.7 is really going to mess up my chances. Any feedback is very appreciated!

Try to get a summer internship, paid or unpaid, will help you greatly. If you GPA hurts your chance right now to get a paid internship, then try to get one that is unpaid and work hard there and learn as much as possible.

You might consider retaking some of those freshman courses too. Most colleges will only include the retake grade in your gpa. Business schools will glance at the lower original but won’t care much.
