I want to join the club of people disappointed by this change. This will definitely help me spend less time here.

I also miss the numbered posts. I agree that often folks refer to post # whatever when responding. That is not possible any longer. Why?

Oh heavens, NO! The beauty of the email auto-notification was that the CONTENT of the cc post could be read in the email and coul d save time, not having to log back into CC tro read the post. Just getting notified that there is a post to read is a waste of bandwith and floods the inbox with unnecessary emails.!! GIVE US THE POST CONTENT IN THE EMAIL!! :((

Okay, just realized that little thing on the right I have been typing right through today is an emoticon pulldown list… ~:> :bz 3:-O Those are REALLY too small for older eyes to see, but I think I just picked some animals… Does  work any more? No… that was my favorite…

Finally an answer. The mobile app is disabled…and is a priority to be fixed…according to an admin in the community issues area. Thank you to that person for FINALLY responding to the question about the iPad application!

Is there anyway to choose which background/site skin I want?

I don’t understand the complaints about the “light blue”. I see far too much white space and am doing a lot of scrolling. But I don’t see what the complaints about the “light blue” are about. I see a very light blue box around this box I am typing in… a bit under the bar between posts. And a medium blue for things like the post time. But all the post text is black… or are we seeing different views in different browsers or devices?

Default font seems to be smaller, although there should be a way to adjust the font sizes in your browser (ctrl-plus and ctrl-minus in Firefox, for example).

A smaller font could theoretically help get more text on the screen, but the greater amount of white space seems to negate that advantage. The extra white space may be caused by the avatar pictures, which require a larger minimum height even for a short message.

I’m a youngin (well kind of… 25), and the excessive white space is a strange choice to me as well. I wish there was the option to change the skin to something less blank. I also miss the posts per day info on profile pages.

Clearly CC, like Slate, has tried to optimize their site for phones. The result in both cases is awful if you use a plain old computer. I’m not prone to headaches or eye problems, but I’m finding it very uncomfortable to read the forums now. At least give us the option of different color schemes or a gray background!

I always used the classic view instead of the newer light blue to get a dark blue- wish this option still existed. Also intensely dislike the changes. Too many distractions, including the large picture boxes above names. Must cutesy rule over ease of viewing??? Harder to locate things. Too many ads. Also- private messages- all of the ones I deleted are still there! No way to delete them. Text is black. They have removed easy ways of locating things. I suppose the parents don’t count so our aged opinions won’t matter… Aha- there’s a one hour edit feature via a gear at the top right. Wish they would post a tutorial for old/new users. Way too much white on sides (better than ads though…). No grace period foe edits anymore. Used to be able to make corrections within a few minutes without edit showing. Everyone is going to see most of my posts edited! At least they got rid of the reasons for editing- I never put mine- mostly spelling, grammar plus added thoughts. They update the edit time and don’t tell how many times edited.

Oh my goodness, my e-mail just filled with dozens of e-mails…instead of the old forum where you actually can read the posts (great for traffic jams) directly in your e-mail, now all that is there is a link to the thread. I did like have the e-mail digest the thread with all the posts I had not read rather than having to hit the browser and go to the m-site, but I have to say I like the mobile version very much even though it requires the wait time for the browser to load…so it’s slower because it takes an extra click and a wait for the phone browser.

I am finally on the computer using CC…

This is a significant change. I almost couldn’t even find the reply box because This WHITE on WHITE is BLINDING.

This white space is a waste. There’s barely as much content on the page as before. There’s only 6 posts a page where before I had double that amount on a single page…Ugh…

YES! I want to see WHAT the poster posted…not THAT they posted…

The lettering, background, and font size is trippy for my eyes. It is not pleasant.

My biggest issue is the lack of any visible indication of new posts on the “Alphabetical list of colleges” page. I would scan that section every day looking for new posts on the schools my son has applied to, and also any we visited in case we could help someone else. Now there’s nothing… and there is NO WAY I am going to be visiting 20+ individual college forums just to see if anything new is there.

I wish there was a way to keep the “classic” format as well as this new one. Like others, I see a lot of white space but it’s not a simpler format. There’s much more visual clutter that is distracting. I guess they are catering to the kids, raher than the parents? Maybe if CC should have or offer a ‘parent’ format (the old, non-cutesy, text-driven one) as well as a ‘student/child’ format (this new one).

I think this change may be a deliberate decision to try to drive up page views.

That’s a shame then.

I won’t be checking in as often…

Well that would be unfortunate, and probably would backfire. I have turned off autonotification and may be LESS inclined to look at CC if I havent been intruiged by a comment while working on something else. And hey- Niquii we AGREE on this!! Great day in the morning! =D>

edited a typo (sigh, typos)

LOLOL jym. Yes, we did!

(We’re more alike than you’d imagine. I, too, and plagued my typos… )

EDIT: That was NOT the smiley I was going for…lol

I miss the post # too.

I like the save draft function. If I close the thread’s window without posting the comment and I open a new window of the thread my reply draft is there waiting for me to post it. =D>
