In love with NYU, but can I get in?

Hey guys!
I’ve just spent the weekend in the city looking at colleges. I’m pursuing a modeling career in New York, but I’m originally from Boston. I fell in love with NYU, but I fear that I can’t get in with my current grades. What do you guys think? I’m interested in either their college of arts and sciences, or Stern.

GPA (Unweighted): 4.05
Class Rank: Top 10%
SAT (new): 1260
ACT: 25
AP Exam Scores: 5/5/3
Extracurriculars: Ballet, Runway Modeling, National Honor Society, Volunteering (local hospitals in the gift shop), Key Club, Youth in Government, Retail job (15-20 hrs weekly), Medical Careers Club

I realize my ACT and SAT scores are total garbage, but I already have retaken my SAT scores and will do it again in the fall for both. I’m considering a prep course for the ACT because my school did not offer much preparation. I understood that NYU is somewhat test optional. Would it be okay to just send SAT and AP scores? I have more faith in those than my ACT. I wrote a really fabulous essay that I have had numerous people critique. I also hope my modeling career could make me a unique person to have in their student body because I know they value diversity. This is definitely my dream school, so if anyone has any uplifting/constructive advice that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Its not your GPA that wont get you in, i dont know why you would think that considering your GPA is over 4.0. If you
dont get in it will be because of your test scores. Get those up and I think you could get in…
Also you arent the leader of any clubs(for some schools thats a problem but idk about NYU)

Uplifting: NYU needs to see the value that you will bring to their institution. Is that in your essay? Contact the admissions office and go speak to an admissions counselor. Get them to know you as more than a name on paper so that when your application is up for review, your regional rep will know your face and name. That is not to say call and pester BUT make an informational call/visit to discuss the programs and majors available at the school. Ask questions that can’t be answered with a perusal of the website…ask about specifics…show them that you want to be ore than just another NYU ‘fan’ but an active participant in the NYU mantra! I used to be a Dean at a college and when we reviewed admissions applications, the ones where we could talk personally about the applicant were the ones that were given the extra edge. Good Luck.

I don’t see Stern as very likely with your test scores, but your SAT (assuming that’s the new, 2-test score) might be adequate for Arts & Sciences.

How do you have a 4.05 unweighted GPA? Even an A+ is still a 4.0 on an unweighted scale.
