In-State Status for California Student from Out-of-State Boarding School?

If a minor student’s family has lived in California for a long time but the student has attended a out-of-state boarding school. If the student goes to a UC campus after the out-of-state boarding school, how will her in-state status be decided?

I believe as long as family lives in CA and are supporting student, it qualifies as in-state for tuition purposes. And I assume student comes home for summer and most breaks. You need to check with the UC - I’m only guessing, but I’m pretty sure.

I need to add that the parents need to be bonafide CA residents. Simply living in CA might not qualify.

Check any UC website. They describe what it takes to be eligible for in state tuition.
