Is it getting harder for in state students to get into TCNJ? That is what I've been hearing a lot of, and, while my stats are pretty good (at least that's what they tell me, haha) I still was wondering if the difference in scores gpas and ecs are all that different for in state and out of state acceptances. My guidance counselor (forgive me for saying this) did not know much, having worked at a middle school for her career, then getting moved to my high school my junior year, the year she was retiring, told me I was a match for Lehigh and NYU, but I might not get accepted into TCNJ (my first choice as of now) and Rutgers because of I'm in state. Yet, she told me once I can get into anywhere I applied (ha, yeah that was a good one) and she put me in AP psych for senior year when I hadn't taken regular, and then told me I'd do fine in it and let me keep it on my schedule.... so yeah. I don't trust her much, but I do know that TCNJ is pretty competitive, so I was just wondering how much harder is it to get in for in-state applicants.

It’s definitely getting harder, but if you can get into Lehigh and NYU you should be able to get into TCNJ. As long as your stats are solid you should be fine. Just keep in mind that some majors are more difficult to get into than others. I feel for you as my guidance counselor really wasn’t much help either. He just stared at me, asked if I knew where I was applying and then basically said “see ya.” I was on my own pretty much the entire way and ended up telling him what to do half of the time lol.

Regarding :"I was just wondering how much harder is it to get in for in-state applicants. "

If you are asking versus out of state , it is almost irrelevant , TCNJ is 94% NJ students and almost the entire applicant pool is from in state.
If you are asking if it is more competitive than 10 years ago , yes.
