We’re hear for early honors orientation. Thought we had a schedule worked out and realized a couple of the courses are probably going to be covered by AP/DE courses. Would be REALLY nice if credits were loaded into Degree Works. Emailed registrar, they have transcripts on dual credit but said they couldn’t get loaded by tomorrow’s orientation. Those of you who have children with DE/DC classes, get the transcripts to the registrar ASAP. Hopefully, they will be loaded for you before registration!

We’ll let everyone know how it goes tomorrow. We’re hoping for good advising!

Thanks for keeping us posted with what you’re experiencing. This is such a great group!!!

some of urs are and some arent. the ones she is taking now, of course, aren’t.

there is still oe of her history credits that has not been credited. maybe i should check on that!

What is DE/DC?

Oops, wait, dual enrollment, I guess.

What is DC then?

Have your student check his/her transcript (you have access to this if you have his/her mybama password), especially if there are AP/dual enrollment credits. Sometimes, when loading these, they can be counted twice. An adjustment will be made later. This happen to my son. His U.S. History class was dual enrollment and AP. He got credit on his transcript twice for this, but it was changed later – probably when they got his AP results from his senior year.

Good luck Bamafana

BTW…to the others…Credits do not have to be loaded into degreeworks for you to skip those classes or register beyond those classes. Of course, DE or AP classes that are currently being taken can’t be loaded in until much later (current AP in July)

Print out a page with the Core Curriculum req’ts on it, and write in wherever you have AP or DE credits to see what Core you still need. [University of Alabama Undergraduate Catalog 2010-12](<a href=“Page Not Found | The University of Alabama”>Page Not Found | The University of Alabama)

Here’s the page with AP, IB, CLEP credits on it. From that you should be able to see what credits you’re getting. Or is the concern that you might not know which dual enrollment course covers what req’t? Perhaps looking at this page will give you some ideas of what those classes will cover. [University of Alabama Undergraduate Catalog 2010-12](<a href=“Page Not Found | The University of Alabama”>Page Not Found | The University of Alabama) However, if you’re taking an unusual DE, then it may be hard to tell.

Do we have to do Degreeworks? For engineering, isn’t there kind of a sample curriculum and you just take those classes?

For mech eng, under the website, the sample has humanities and eng comp, but since we know son is AP first semester eng comp, we’ll just plug in CBH in that spot. He’s also got Alabama Action to register for.

Other than that, I think Calculus, Chemistry, and the engineering courses are going to give him plenty enough credits to start off with.

Is it more complicated than that?

Oops, I’m sorry. I think I hijacked the thread.

Back on track.

Good luck to all registering for Bama Bound today!

Don’t forget that the sample curriculum will be changing to include the new Freshman Engineering program.

Supposedly these curriculum changes will be online soon. You might want to email your Dept head and ask.

You don’t have to follow Degreeworks, but the info will get loaded anyway

In addition, students in Mechanical Engineering will complete ENGR 161 (Small-Scale Engineering Graphics)

Good luck and have fun at Bama Bound!

Thanks, mom, for the reply. I’ll add up the credits and see what we have.

Sorry for the hijack. Meant to start a new thread.

Any engineering majors at early orientation? What classes are y’all taking in the fall?

For AP/IB credits (in the catalog, and everywhere else I see,) it lists English but does not state if this is English Lang & Comp. or Eng. Lit & Comp. Working on his tentative schedule.

It is for either Literature or Language.

Great. He won’t have to sweat over waiting until July for the Lit. part.
