Incoming exchange student

Hi, I'm planning on doing a semester exchange at IU in Fall 2010 and looking for advice about dorms and housing. I'm 21 and from Australia. Are most undergrads of this age already off campus? Any help appreciated :)

Pauline,

Yes, all freshman undergraduates live in the dorms (a university requirement)–but after the freshman year, only about 30% of those attending IU live in the dorms–the rest are in off-campus dorms. Also, if you are 21 you will probably be the equivalent of a senior at IU-Bloomington, althought you need to realize that about 1/2 of all students finish in 4 years (meaning age 21 in their senior year) and the other 1/2 finish in 5 to 6 years (meaning 21 year olds will still be in their junior year).

Here’s some info on housing for students, both on- and off-campus:

Hey Pauline, I’m coming to IU in 2010 from the UK. Been told by my uni that I’ve got to live in dorms despite being 23. I have no idea which ones to go for.
