Incoming Freshman ask LOTS questions...Help, THANKS

<p>a. So I got this blue and gold financial aid and some other aid, but where will the money go, like will it automatically go in to my account in UCSD or will it go to my bank account? </p>

<p>b.Do they send all the money to you at once or will they give it to you month by month? </p>

<p>c.When will they do that (At the beginning of school year perhaps?)?</p>

<p>a. Okay, I have been in US for 6 years but Im still learning English even though I got out of English as Second Language class. What classes should I took to improve my English Skill other than the writing requirement class which I did not pass?</p>

<p>b. Is there any "Helps" or kind like an organization or club especially made for English Learner？ (I did not get in to the STEPS or other similar programs ....-_-....)</p>

<p>c. Is it possible for me to join STEPS or other similar programs during school year even though I got denied? Or can I participate in those classes for free?</p>

<p>c.I know there gono be lots reading in UCSD, is there any specific book I should read to get ahead of a class (maybe a book required to read in one of the English class...)</p>

<p>You register for classes online via WebReg. You should log onto Tritonlink to see what your enrollment time is. When that time arrives, you will be able to register online.</p>

<p>No and no, you can buy a minifridge though with your roommate. Talk to your roommates when you find out who they are, they might already be bringing one.</p>

<p>It’s not necessary, but it certainly makes life more convenient. I can’t imagine NOT having one, but many people make do without.</p>

<p>a. I heard the Student ID (Card) act like a credit card and a bus pass, is that true?</p>

<p>That is somewhat true. You need to go to the UCSD parking office to get a bus sticker to put on your ID card, then it will work. You can also load “Triton Cash” onto your ID card, and in that way it acts as a debit card. It will work at various on and off campus restaurants. Google “Triton Cash” and see that website for more info.</p>

<p>b. What are some of the best work study job out there?</p>

<p>Don’t know</p>

<p>c. When is the club rush week?</p>

<p>Clubs will start meetings at various times. During Welcome Week (right after move in) there are organization fairs on Ridge Walk and Library Walk where clubs will have tables. You can go and ask them when they start meetings.</p>

first they will automatically put it into your bank account, and then a few weeks after the pay period ends (if you sign up for direct deposit), you’ll automatically get the left over aid transferred to your bank account.</p>

<p>b.Do they send all the money to you at once or will they give it to you month by month?
there are various ways to pay, you can opt to do all at once, by quarter, or by month. so it depends on which of these payment options you choose. i did by quarter because to me it made more sense.</p>

<p>c.When will they do that (At the beginning of school year perhaps?)?
they will send you your money before each payment deadline. so yes, you will first (or only) receive aid money at the beginning of the school year.</p>

<p>i didn’t bother answering the other questions because i figure ucsandiego915 got it all. hahah.</p>

<p>okay, I have a bank account, but what do I suppose to do to connect it to pay my UCSD bill and let UCSD send my financial aid money into that bank account? </p>

<p>^What you’re looking for is direct deposit…you can find it in your financial aid checklist. It’s optional.</p>
