Hello current NYU students, I live in Miami and I'm going to be in NYC for the weekend with my parents. I've been accepted for the c/o 2016 and I was wondering if anyone staying for the summer could show me one of their rooms (if you're in Rubin, that would be 5x as awesome cause that's my first choice!)? I'd be able to go on Monday, June 11th. It's pretty short notice but it'd be great for my mom and I to see a room.

If no one responds, I would recommend just stopping by the dorm you would like to see, smiling and saying that you are an incoming student to someone entering the building. Someone would probably be willing to show your their room if they aren’t in a hurry.

My daughter also signed up for Rubin…nice old world charm lobby, dining hall in the dorm, and very close to main classroom buildings, plus not as expensive as some other dorms.

Thanks, I’ll probably end up doing that. And yep, the cheapest of all the dorms!

I don’t think you’ll find anybody living in Rubin right now because most avoid it for summer housing (no AC).

I lived in a Rubin LCT and it wasn’t bad. In my opinion, the saved $5000 was definitely worth it. More to spend on the weekends if you know what I’m saying. Distance was pretty good from campus as well. However…if you’re not planning on rooming in a LCT/not concerned with money, then avoid Rubin because you can get better alternatives.

Founders: Awesome dorm. Distance is a problem.
Third North: Rooms are a bit small. Distance is a huge problem. Thin walls
Weinstein: Would be my top choice simply because it is so close to campus. Rooms are decently sized and Upstein is open till like 3AM or something. Thin walls
Hayden: Didn’t really see why people like it so much.
Rubin: Cheap. LCT’s are a bit cramped but livable. Worst dining hall ever created.
Goddard: No idea.
