Incoming highschool senior, looking to apply to good colleges for a bachelors in nursing.?

Currently have a uw 3.0 and a weighted 3.5. (Really screwed up first semester of junior year) SAT is a score of 2100 and ACT of 32 and this senior year I am taking 6 AP courses (calc bc, stats, bio, spanish, lit, gov/econ) and am currently taking a physics course at community college this summer. What options do I have for college? I have pretty decent extra curricular activities as well as leadership being a three (most likely four) year varsity volleyball captain as well as I have done community service and a bit of speech and debate. Suggestions to boost gpa? or how much it will bring me down. Chances of getting into good colleges and such? Will colleges look at my senior year first semester gpa? a significant improvement?

Homes state? How much can you and your family afford? What area of the country are you looking for schools?
Any preferences?

Home state is california and probably nothing over 25000 I’m looking at all the CSU for right now and am wondering if my stats are competitive enough to qualify for pre-nursing? Not too sure on how the colleges admit students for the pre-nursing deal

You might want to try this on the nursing board.

Calculate CSU GPA: https://secure.csumentor.edu/planning/high_school/gpa_calculator.asp
Then Calculate your Eligibility index: (CSU GPA x200) + (ACT comp x10). If your EI is above 1050, then you have a good chance at most of the CSU’s. If over 1100, you could possbily get a direct admit in SDSU’s nursing program.

I agree, posting on the Nursing Thread may give you more information. Good Luck.

Take look at Sonoma State, they offer an accelerated program that combines your BS and RN and has nearly a 100% placement rate.

Sac State also has an excellent program.

Nursing is really competitive at most of the CSUs so, direct admission into the major is hard. Many schools have supplemental requirements and they vary by campus.

Contact a couple of schools your are interested in directly for more info.

Good luck
