I sent in my Common Apps and supplements on October 15 for a Nov. 1 deadline. However, some of my teacher rec's and my SAT scores have been sent but haven't arrived at the colleges yet. Do colleges just need the app to review, or do they need everything for me to still be considered for early action? Although it's not a big deal, I don't really want to be deferred to regular admission. Please advise thanks!

Most schools have an early action, POSTMARK deadline. This means the applicant will be reviewed under the Early Action program, so long as all documents (transcript, scores, LoR etc…) are mailed before or on Nov 1. This is not the case with every school, so make sure you check the school’s website for further information. From my point of view, it seems that you would be okay for EA if any of the schools you have applied to have a postmark deadline.

Also, if you’re checking your app status on the college’s website, they don’t update what they have received as soon as it comes in. It often takes several days, or even weeks, for colleges to actually sort through all of the paper they get in late october/early november. Don’t worry about it, schools are not as strict with these deadlines as you may think. If they don’t receive (or possibly lose) the materials, they will send you an email, and youll have to send it again.
