increasing my chances

So i am pretty set on GW and want to maximize my chances of acceptance. I want to major in International relations, but i get the impression that the Elliot school is rerally competitive when it comes to gaining admission. So my question is, if I were to declare say history as my desired major, and apply to the regular college (and then later switch majors if i get accepted), are my chances of acceptance better vs. applying to the Elliot School.

Just remember whatever major you say you intend, you will be in disadvantage credit wise with the kids admitted directly to the school. In times where you must finish in 4 years for your parents sake ( unless you can afford 5 at GW), is something to think about. I think you are better off competing for a spot as a prospective freshman than as an entering late soph or even junior

It is commonly held, however, that it is more difficult to get into the Elliot School than CCAS. There is no competition to get in sophomore or junior year- you just sign a paper and if you are in "good academic standing," you are in. You might be behind with some credits, but if you look up some of the GCR's and intro classes for the Elliot School, you should be able to take some of those as a freshman in CCAS.

What if I am in CCAS and a freshman and want to switch into the business school???How difficult is this. I have only taken intro to econ. and pre-calc and calc

i know several people who have switched from CCAS to Elliott with no problem. I think you fill out some forms before sophomore year.
