Indian (from India) what do i put down?

On college apps some of them dont have a choice for Indian (from india). Do i put asian? but most ppl associate asians as ppl from china, korea, and surrounding countries. so wat do i do?

India is part of Asia, so I'd put Asia. I believe most applications allow you to tell specifically what part of Asia you're from, so you'd write India there I guess.

India is part of Asia. Therefore, you would be called Asian.

South Asian.

Or check "Asian" and specify.

I have always felt conflicted with this same issue. I always WANT to say asian, but I have had people (even once an admissions rep!) mention that they don't immediately think of Indian as Asian. Silly, really, because clearly eastern Asia doesn't comprise the whole. I'm half, so I just said "bi-racial" and specified, but maybe you can do what NYC suggested or just call the schools and ask.

All the college applications that I have include separate boxes for Chinese, Japanese, Korean and then Other Asian -- which is what I put.

They also have separate boxes for South Asian (Indian and Pakistani). You'd be South Asian.

anyway, being indian does NOT work to your advantage, so it doesn't really matter.....

yea it really sucks....50 pts less on ur SAT's.... :(
