Indian post

Hi,reviewing the common App, just put in the essay, and will now cut'n'paste stuff into the priceton supplement.

It rained really hard on Friday, leaving behind the thundering noise in my phone line. Bloody Dial up, it went no further than the login page...and usually got disconnected...with that long teeeeeeeeeeeeep..titing..teeee . I paid all the fees, rushed in to write the Yale essay for supplement, screwed it up, but when submitted, i figured out that its deadline has been extended. No regerets. I thought it will be fine procastrinating and reviewing my essya, for i had nearly 20 hours for MIT, Harvard, and another day for princeton. Relaxed, i went to Joyland, sort of a theme park, with my cousins. Took two rides, none of them was really thrilling except that they rotated you with full force, due to the reaction of centripetal force, i neraly crushed my bony cousin sitting on the outward side of the cart. All this after so many sleepless nights left me dizzy, a bit disoriented, had to take the cousins for bowling, merely managed a 66....Right after midnight, went to a variant of KFC, the stuff didnt appear really fresh, and coming back home feeling empty headed...i fell asleep..wake up eary next moring, spewing all over the place.....took more rest....managed to submit he harvard supplement in time.....slep for a while...and when my cousins left adter spending a week with me(The eldest among them came for the Intel Science fair, ranked second in team projects in the Punjab province), i finalized my MIT essay and submitted the stuff last night.....school started today....jotted down the Summer essay remaining for Princeton and here i am..............Feeling better..but .still got constipation ;)

Well, interestingly none of my application, has got in time, except YAle....if i had known about the extension...i would have tried to do a whitewash.....

Such: btw adides which schools have you researched?

Such: I have conducted detailed research on
UPenn
MIT (only LFE)
Georgetown
Chicago
Columbia (Fu)
Middlebury (not applyin)
South Carolina (Intl Bus. - not applyin)
Duke
Princeton
Brown
W&L (not applyin)
Uni. of Richmond (not applyin)

But other than that, I did research all the 22 schools that I have applied to - but more specifically researched the courses, faculties that I am interested in. Also, when I say research - it means communication with the alumni, students, faculties, admission officer etc. or a campus visit. Nothin like 'investigatin'...

My preboards start on the 18th.
Idont know anything in Physics, Chem , Bio and Bengali.
I know 1/4 of the Math syllabus.
My life is great.
No I definitely don't feel empty about submitting my apps.

Oooh adi, you're quite a spy arent you?

spy?? nooo
Gujju?? yesss

If I am going to throw away $40,000 x 4 on my education - i better be damn sure about where its going. its all about ROE :D gujju mentality

mine start monday. 10th :(

are y'all going to send mid year reports??
I was thinking if there is anyway to go around it. I am not planning to attend my English exam because I am going to be travelling out of town - is that going to look bad in the mid year reports?

hurrah!!!! :D
Done with everything, half my sleepiness gone...............
They accept me or not, Hope they at least accept my application....
Good Luck everyone, it was a pleasure talking to everyone, profiting from the information you people shared....i need to get back to serious study before i get more addicted to CC

All the Best!
See you near March....well i am not realy good at my new year pledges...hope i do it this time ;)

BROWN APPLICANTS: I got this email from brown earlier today

"We do indeed have alumni in India; within the
next few weeks we will be sending them contact information for all our
applicants and one of them will call or write you."

whatcha doin up?

hey astrix, which school do you go to ?

its not a big name school, you wouldnt know. you're in the states right?

ok people I'm filling up my finaid forms and I need help.
How much money are we allowed to take out of the country?
And I'm assuming that there arent any agencies which are willing to foot our educational bills...

Yeah I had a similar question. On many finaid apps, they ask which agencies etc. we are applying for grants/scholarships etc. and whether the government will help with the financing or not. I've searched like a lunatic but can't find any damn agency for undergrad studies (a few I did find require you to be admitted somewhere before you can apply). AND THE GOVERNMENT HAS NO FRIGGIN SHOLARSHIPS WHATSOGDDAMEVER

anyway....

i have put in $0 for that source. All i have is student's vacation earnings, student's assets and family assets

To Princeton applicants from India - almost 100% of us will be interviewed!!! gud luc

yeah and what about how much you can take out of the country?

Yeah I am, though I was till 11th. I was asking because my old school has pre boards frm 10 th too. But i doubt it.

I was in India till 11th * ( till board result )

such - i am not sure about which question on the form you are referring to. But if it is q. 17 - it is my understanding that there is no restriction on exchange and release of funds.
I think we can take out as much as we want for education expenses (i think...)

oright, so now that we have submitted all apps. what do we do from here? I find it hard to believe that there is nothing that we can do to improve our chances. Any suggestions are welcomed. I will go first-

I am calling each and every coll. that I have applied but not interviewed and asking for an interview. I am also trying to get names of alumni from these colleges in bbay and see if I can meet them. It cant hurt, can it??

Any other suggestions?
