Basically, i'm running a bit late with my FAFSA due to my parents being less than supportive through the process. Anyways, I should have the application complete and submitted within a couple of days. IU's website says:

"Indiana Universitys priority deadline for completing the FAFSA is March 10 of each year. Filing the FAFSA by this date guarantees that the student will be considered for all financial aid programs he/she may be eligible for."

Does this mean I just need to submit it by the 10th or that it needs to be done processing by the Federal government by the 10th? Such a confusing process. Thanks for the help in advance.

File FAFSA by that date…or before.

Others can chime in, but I think you can use estimated numbers for now and put “will file”…then correct after filing.

If that’s true, then have your parents put in estimated numbers (perhaps using the paystub from the end of December), select “will file” and then submit.

Then have parents file taxes ASAP and correct.

You might try explaining to your parents that it’s in EVERYONE’s best interest for you to get the max aid that you qualify for.

However, if the family income is beyond Pell, then your aid might be loans and then your filing date won’t matter much. But, still file by the date so you can get work-study if qualified.
