Indiana University - Kelley Standard Admission

I need some help with my schedule for this year. I am an incoming freshman and other threads have told me I have to take courses during the summer at a CC; is this true? I would appreciate it if someone could clarify this and also give me an idea of what classes I should choose. I know there are a lot of weed out classes and I want to take the ones that will be the least damaging to my psyche during my first year at college. On another note, would rushing during the fall interfere greatly with my Kelley pre-req classes?

You don’t have to take classes at a CC if you don’t want to, but it can be beneficial. bthomp1 is the authority on this kind of stuff. Search his name in this forum and he has great information

Take as many courses as you can at CC! I suggest math 119, Math 118 (finite), English 101, and the Econ sequence is a good start. By taking courses at your CC you are getting them out of the way (and they don’t go on your GPA) and you are freeing yourself up for the more interesting business classes. Take any other gen ed classes also because it helps you move up the rank as far as registration for the next semester. At IU, students registration order is based on the total number of credit hours one has. So load up!

Rlaurence,

I would suggest taking the following courses at Ivy Tech Community College online. They are super easy and you online need a C for the credit to transfer, does not affect your GPA.

BUS-L 201
ECON-E 202
ENG-W 131

I would also suggest taking MATH-M 119 at a CC but in person. Taking it online can be quite challenging.

I was a standard admit so here is the schedule I would advise you take.

(Fall)
BUS-K 201
MATH-M 118

(Spring)
BUS-C 104
ECON-E 201
BUS-T 175

You can go ahead and take whatever other classes you want to but I would not add any more business classes. As long as your grades are all B or higher you are auto in after freshman year. Your idiot advisor will suggest taking
BUS-A 100 but don’t do that. I would take that at a IUPUI, IPFW, etc. location if you are an indiana resident. I suggest taking courses with SPH-H titles. They are super easy athlete classes that will help boost your GPA. Also, utilize ratemyprofessor and the IU grade distribution website when looking at courses.
