For both UCs and the Common App, I stupidly told myself that I would take all six AP tests that I have on my courseload. However, now that AP course signups for my high school are nearing an end, I have decided not to take three out of six of the tests mostly due to having learned too little from my teachers to feel confident in even just studying for the overall test. Unlike ACT/SAT testing, I cannot change the information regarding my self-reported AP tests. Will it affect my college admissions if I end up not taking the tests that I had promised to take? Thank you!
If your high school does not require you to take the exam in order to get a grade for the course, then you can skip any of the exams you feel like. AP scores do not matter for admission. They matter for course credit or advance course placement. You won’t get the exam scores until late in the summer, and they only are reported officially to the college you plan to attend if you ask for them to be reported.
If you know now where you will be foing to college, check the website to see which AP exam scores they accept and for what. Don’t spen your time and money on an exam you don’t think will give you a useful score.
