GGSPIN,
dave was anal about gear adrift in a storm? nah... couldn't be
haha

What kind of medical tests should we be expecting upon our arrival? Is it like the DoDMERB physical?

do the underwears, shirts, and socks you bring to indoc get really nasty to the point of you needing to get all new ones during parents weekend?

Yes :D Make sure mom sends you some more titey-wities by then.

Step aside Boss. - Apprentice, I am a pro so listen up. There is some kind of nasty laundry Goblin that lives in the washers & dryers at KP all the way up to your last year for those who are too lazy to get laundry together for the actual service that does it for you. They like to dump the color gray onto anything white. Sometimes they throw in gel ink pens & the like on your uniforms when they get bored with the gray coloring. When you throw your stuff into the wash, shut the lid, turn on the machine, spin around four times then hop on one foot while saying atleast three curse words as loudly as possible. I hear it works pretty well.

Buy the cheap stuff for going in then beg for new at the Winter break. Seems like underwear products/socks last about one tri-mester only.

lol, i guess i'll save my 'better' underwear for later. It seems to beg the question, there is a service that does absolutely all our laundry? I don't see how someone can offer that opportunity up if we're placed under certain time pressures at the academy.

As for the laundry goblin, i wonder who will succeed its predecessor as the years go by....

the laundry service does everything that you can fit into your laundry bag once a week. some people don't use it for fear of having their stuff lost, which is exactly why i don't use the laundry room. you'll get it figured out.

is2day4him, if you can recall, how long into Plebe year was it before the whole laundry privilege was earned & you began to use it? They do their own laundry during INDOC correct?

the laundry service, as i recall was available the first week of school. during indoc it's done differently, you dump your stuff in a bag and it gets returned to you later in the day. seriously though, don't overthink this stuff guys... it's NOT that complicated. this isn't like going into the heat of battle, you're going to college.

to the incoming candidates-- RELAX. don't worry so much, you're taken care of. sure, mommy isn't there to help you with stuff anymore, but you WILL be ok. if you overthink this stuff, like the laundry, food, cell phones, time away from home, etc... you're going to work yourself into a panic.

take this stuff as it comes, it will be ok!

welcome to KP all of you newcomers, keep your chins up!

Maybe it is already posted, but should you put your name on the underware with your name?

Thanks,

CPASteve

At the risk of being called an outsider, I would say definitely yes, label everything...it all looks the same and gets lost...socks too but towards the bottom as you don't want your name out there too much...ha ha.

Is2day that is the best post and best advice I've seen in a while a very very true.

One last piece of advice on the undies topic...leave the underoos at home...HA HA HA

It does make sense to mark the underwear and socks. The KP student that spoke with us this past weekend said his company marked them together as a group. I know in boot camp they get stencils and mark them together. Next thing you know is, when you show up with your name on the skivvies and some guy at KP is screaming at you that "those markings are unsat, and your stuff is AFU!"(ha,ha) Hopefully we'll hear the real deal from someone soon. I will have my Plebe Candidate New Guy re-read the info that was sent about what to bring and see if it says stencil/mark your junk now or as a company. No one wants to be missing there stuff, and you definitely don't want to be wearing some other dudes underwear.

so what happens if during indoc someone's tity whities are colored pink (or gray) after they've been washed? Pushups?

are you kidding? you are asking some pretty retarded questions. you will figure out everything soon enough

usmma2009: i'm sure they're just a nervous candidate. Sometimes people get caught up a bit. They'll be fine, just don't wear your pink undies outside ;)

Do they need a second bag to carry the stuff they are given i.e. uniforms and the like?

They won't need to bring any extra bags now. Also, word from DI in training.....they are going to be extremely hard on the Candidates this year, so be prepared....mentally and physically :D

If you get a chance on I-Day, stop by the Mid-Atlantic Parent's table (across from O'hara) and say hello...I'll be there! Good Luck to all Class of 2012 Candidates! :D
