industrial design as a major??

does anyone know about doing industrial design as a major? It seems really interesting to me and I want to major, but not many public universities have it and I’m worried I wouldn’t be able to find a job in it…

My son is an Industrial Design major at Georgia Tech. Explore their web page; they offer three different branches of
ID (studios) which you specialize in during your junior and senior year (ie wearable technology, medical, product design), Students graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree.

My daughter is beginning her freshman year at U Cincinnati DAAP majoring in Industrial Design. This is a direct admit program which she really liked. She also looked at University of Kansas, Iowa State, Auburn, Ohio State, Unoversity of Oregon as well as art schools. If you are interested in this major I definitely encourage you to look at portfolios of students and investigate the different programs. Good luck. I think it’s a great major.

Hi IDtoTX, how is your daughter liking UC? My daughter is now trying to decide between schools - UC, Auburn and RIT. She loved Ohio State but does not like the fact that they reduce the class to 16 after the first year. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
