I am wondering why you would be put off by me not telling you where I am from.I am sorry I offended you and I do greatly appreciate your advice. You should know from my posts I am not going anywhere for now.For many reasons I do not wish to disclose the state and the main reason is to protect my son’s identity. But let me say that the top school in my state is ranked in the several hundreds. This makes the desision even more difficult. We had a family disscussion abot the cost and laid all the finances right out front for my son to see.My son said “Dad this is my future life we are talking about and chosing a very poor state school wil jepardize it”.
How can you now tell him that he has to go to an instate school ?

I think people have a hard time believing there isn’t a good in state option and are trying to help you identify that. Or be able to compare options. Worrying about your son’s identity by identifying a state on this forum, well sorry, but that brings all of your judgement into question, so I see why some would move on. Don’t forget to included travel costs in your OOS equation as kids going back and forth or parents doing an “emergency visit” can be pretty common.
