I'm a freshman who just went through rushing. I came into the week not sure whether or not i was going to pledge and that's why i didn't really have my heart set on it. Only by the end of the week did i realize how much i really wanted to pledge. Unfortunately since i hadn't been that upto it at first, i wasn't able to get a bid from any of the frats that i wanted. So that brings me to my question: what next?

I've heard there was such a thing as informal rushing. how does this work? how do i even begin to start going to these frats to meet the brothers? All my friends have joined frats and i've realized i really want to join one too. Any advice would be appreciated.

all rushes who don’t sign bids are put on a list. Fraternities that don’t feel like they have a complete pledge class are put on a list as well. The students are given the list of the fraternities and the fraternities are given a list of students.

starting around next weekend, fraternities hold informal events for meeting brothers, such as dinners or parties. you are made aware of these events through email. brothers can give you bids at some point during informal rush, which can last for 1-2 weeks.

when you get the list of fraternities that are doing second round rush I’d recommend emailing the rush chair of any you are interested in to ask about what events they are having.
