We're going to be passing through the area at around 3pm on a Friday afternoon. That will be too late for any of the formal tours and info sessions, but we're wondering if current students could suggest somewhere on campus where we could drop by maybe grab a snack and meet some friendly students who could tell us what they love and hate about JHU. My DS is interested in Mechanical Engineering if that makes a difference.

well I had a very long and detailed message and you can thank CollegeConfidential for signing me out while I was writing it so here’s a quick summary:
message a professor. maybe she can sit in on a class or talk to a professor during their break for a few minutes
Go to Brody Cafe- check out how nice Brody is (built this past year) and there are always students in the Cafe
Go to Gilman- there is an atrium where many people sit and eat (there’s a Cafe). Also, check out the writing center, the learning den, and the study area in the back
Go to Levering. There’s a Cafe on the main floor and a cafeteria on the bottom floor.
Go to Mason Hall. I’m not 100% sure when it closes, but if it’s open, it’s definite a great place the check out since it’s the Admissions Building.

At Mason Hall, they can give you a campus map with a really great self-directed walking tour mapped out. It’s perfect for what you need. Definitely stop into Gilman. Hope you enjoy your visit.
