I imagine this can really only be answered by parents/students who are already in VT, but here it goes: What percentage of corps students on average receive rotc scholarships the first year? My son has been accepted to VT already and plans to serve in the Army, if that helps to answer me. He is definitely still going, but he will need to do national guard if he can’t get any money from the first year.

That would be interesting to know. My son should hear next month if he’s been awarded a AFROTC scholarship. I’m not sure if the Army ROTC scholarship has a different application process.
If I recall correctly from our Ooen House meeting last year, all incoming cadets earned a scholarship of $5k a year just through the Corps. Apparently they have some really big donors.
DS is waiting to hear on VT acceptance next month.
