Information on Moore-Hill Dorm

In a previous post, I read: The rooms are separated into Moore and Hill. The rooms in moore (mainly the side facing 21st st) have immovable furniture, similar to the virtual tours on the housing website. The rooms in Hill have movable furniture. All rooms have 2 closets. The beds are not adjustable so bring bed risers if you want more storage under the bed.

Question: Is there a way to tell based upon your room number if you are in Moore section or Hill section prior to moving in? We are trying to understand if our son's TV will fit in the room based upon the furniture arrangement.

Thanks!

I’m sure there is a way to tell by number, but unfortunately I don’t know it. However, I will venture to say that your son’s TV will probably fit in the dorm. I lived in the Moore side, and my 32" fit quite easily. Though, I am not sure how big your son’s TV is.

Thanks for the reply. My son’s TV is also 32". So where did you put the TV? Did you bring a shelf/stand? Or place it on a piece of furniture provided by the college? Did you have to bring extra cable or are there multiple outlets in the room?

Any other tidbits you would like to share about living in Moore-Hill would be wonderful!

I bought a cheap little stand at Ikea. My roommate and I placed it in the center back of the room below the window. Because we didn’t stack our beds, we couldn’t use the recycling bins they gave us, but the garbage can still fit next to the TV stand.

It’s one of the better dorms for the money. It’s social, and it has a great location (literally adjacent to Gregory Gym). It’s also never too loud. I think it’s a good place for a freshman. Make sure he doesn’t eat at Cypress Bend and JCL too much across or his dine in dollars will assuredly run out. He’ll have to hit up J2 (the cheap buffet option) a few times a week. I learned that the hard way second semester.
