Information on Waitlist?

Just waitlisted at Cornell...and I can't find any info anywhere about how many were waitlisted, what percent is usually accepted from the waitlist, and when they'll notify (June 30th?)

Does anyone happen to know this stuff?

This is for College of Arts and Science btw.

It fluctuates between year to year. Three years ago, very few got off the waitlist. Two years ago, my daughter’s year, a lot of kids got off the waitlist. This year could be interesting because of economy. If you do not need FA, you will have a better chance of getting off the waitlist. Cornell will start taking students off the list as early as the first week of May. You could be proactive about getting off the waitlist.

does anyone know if Cornell is need-AWARE for waitlistees?
I know many colleges only practice need-aware for waitlist and internationals, but does anyone know if Cornell practices this?

It is always need aware, even when they say it’s need blind.

^ are you referring to waitlists? or admissions in general?

and if i don’t apply for financial aid at all, will they assume i’m full paying? I didn’t fill out any fafsa forms or anything, will they just look up my name and see that i’m not in their financial aid documents?

any information on this year’s waitlist yet, concerning policies, etc.

OMG Cornell please don’t abandon me >.> hahahaha good luck to all wait-listees!

they’re totally keeping us out of the loop!

As you can see from the Stats below, the use of the Wait list varies considerably from year to year. Use of the Wait list this year will depend on the yield from regular admissions.

(** It looks like they forgot to clear the Wait List fields on the 2001 Common Data Set form, because it is highly unlikely that the numbers would be exactly the same as 2000. But that’s what they posted on the web site.)

Waitlisted too.
How exactly could I tell Cornell about my financial information in my “I’m definitely going” letter?
I’m pretty sure my parents will definitely apply for FA (they refuse to not apply just for that possible tiny increase in acceptance chance), but we aren’t getting any money anyway with an EFC of 70k+.

Tell your parents FA is not like a lottery, you have to have a need before it’s given. Why would you parents want to give out any financial information about themselves without getting anything in return.

if you don’t apply for financial aid, say they check your name in their FA office and don’t find you, do they assume you’re full-paying? (which i am)
