Insomnia?

I've been only getting 2-5 hours of sleep a night on average recently.
I'm a high school senior.
I don't stay up doing work or anything, except for the nights I rage!
Usually, I just can't sleep.
Does anyone have tips?

insomnia usually occurs due to stress =/
any trauma or issue thats been bothering you?
if you know what that is, solving it will be easier.
usually with insomnia they say to drink tea or something warm before you sleep on a regular basis. try to go to bed at the same time everyday. dont exercise or drink anything with caffeine a few hrs before bed

medicine, but i wouldnt recommend that. can get addicting and your quality of sleep wont be that great --> same as not really sleeping

if the problem keeps going, id go to a doctor or a psych

I was the same way in high school, and nothing changed after I went to college. One thing that I hear can cause this is doing homework in your room. It causes you to associate working with your room and it makes it difficult for you to fall asleep. Whenever I try to go to bed before 2am I just lie there while my mind races. I haven't fallen asleep before 3am in a really long time.

The things that I find help were already mentioned by Shourai. It might help to do something relaxing right before you go to sleep.

You should develop a rigid sleep routine. If I don't read until I'm just about to fall asleep with my book in my hands, I'll stay up for 3 hours. My mom has to have a snack and fall asleep while watching TV, if not she won't fall asleep at all. Figure out what works best for you and keep trying until something works.

I'm trying to work things out. I have had some good nights and some really bad nights.
I think it might be related to my drinking habits but I have to decide which I want more- getting drunk or getting sleep.
To be frank, getting drunk is a lot more fun! :D

That's weird- usually alcohol makes people sleepy.

It might be college decisions coming up in April.

That's the stress that's causing me not to sleep as much. I know that I can't do anything about it, but the stress still won't go away.

And yes, alcohol should make you sleepy.

I find that when I get drunk, I can go to sleep for two to three hours and then I wake up and can't go back to sleep again... however, this happens me to at times when I'm sober too.

Apparently it works for you academic wise. I just saw your stats. You're a genius or not real. =]

Ugh, last night, I watched the ceiling for some 4 and a half hours.

Then I got up and ate breakfast. It was (is) terrible.

listen to some music
