Yay Wash U! :D

I'm thinking about transferring to CAS from a different department. Is this difficult to do? Is it possible to transfer before the beginning of my freshman year (and what would that process entail)?

Sorry for being such a college newbie and thanks in advance

Switching between schools at WashU is notoriously simple. Switching from one of the specialty schools (Art/Arch, Business, etc.) to ArtSci is probably the easiest transfer of all. My friend switched from ArtSci to Engineering her freshman year 1st semester with next to no problems. I’d just email your dean once you figure who he/she is (over the summer, usually through a letter or on WebSTAC), and it’ll be very simple - I think they’ve even gone paperless so you won’t have to fill out any forms. You could definitely do this over the summer if you do ArtSci weekends or FSAP. Also, you can simply register for all the ArtSci courses you want - you’re not restricted in any way just because you’re in one school or another. Good luck and congrats on getting in!

What princellbell said. Switching schools here is particularly easy to do.

I remember this being something they emphasized in the admissions office. It was pretty refreshing, actually. I don’t know how some other schools can expect you to be 100% sure of your major, and then make you practically apply with outside transfer students just to switch within the school.
