Just kidding, got both letters today. I want to know!! The thing is, I didn't even realize that both my SAT and ACT score were in the top 25% (my SAT hovers closer to the median for a bunch of my schools), but that letter didn't even make me feel good about that...

I also haven't received either letter, and I live, although not close to Midd, not that far either! And someone else in my town got the parent letter, but not the student one. Hmm. Although I guess if they've sent it out to everyone, I shouldn't be that worried.

Parent letter arrived but not the student one.

I haven't gotten either letter yet...and I live 30 minutes away! What's going on here???

I haven't gotten either letter, but has anyone on the west coast received it?

i still do not understand the purpose of this letter.

And son has still not received it.

My parents received theirs today. It refers to a letter sent to the applicant, which I have yet to receive.

About 7 years ago, I was the editor of the public HS school's newsletter sent monthly to about 3500 families. Every month it was a rush to get it to the one post office that handled bulk mail and every month I would pull into the school's administration offices on the last day (where people would assuredly get it before the beginning of the month) for them to make the labels and copies before I came back to rush them over to the post office!

The point? One month I was besieged with "why isn't there a newsletter this month?" About mid month I went back to the post office and The post office failed to mail at least one and possibly more of those mail flats (somewhat like a flower flat but for mail). By this point it was too late to mail for dates because half of them had passed. Oh yes, many apologies. But really.. what can you do?

Both came today - parent's letter had a few good thoughts, but the applicant letter was way to long. Daughter and I both lost interest.

I wouldn't stress over it, it could be alphabetical? My last name starts with a "B" and I got both a while ago.

We are D. Pretty much near the top, but since I've already read it (thank you), and everyone else seems to think it was too long and they lost interest, I am thinking no big deal. Of course, it could have come on a day when I didn't get the mail, son read it and tossed it because... well, it didn't warrant saving?

I am B and I haven't gotten anything...

I'm L... but still nothing.
I've moved though, and all my mail is being redirected to my new address, so that might be it. maybe it got lost on the way.

I think it's bad form to send a small envelope to a student three weeks before decisions are due. Why not send the same message via e-mail, since the vast majority have e-mail, and save the expense?

^ Agree that this would have been perfect email fodder. Same with parents because on the common app that was on there too, wasn't it?

do we know to a certainty that everyone is getting it?

it's so generic that im almost positive everyone gets it.

Yeah, the letter specifically states on the top that it is addressed to all applicants.

OK, D got a duplicate of the one sent to her again today!! talk about a big let down!!
