Transfer 2012 Question

Hey. I am at a ccc right now, in my 2nd semester. I completed 18 units last spring and am doing 15 units right now. I am applying next month to UCLA, Cal, UCSB, UCSD, SDSU, CSUSM. By Spring 2012 I will have completed 60+ units, including all the prerequisites for my major (sociology) and IGETC.

I'll have to complete 27 units next semester. 10 of which are coming from 2 credit-by-exams.

My QUESTION is (for somebody who has had pertinent experience, preferably), do I still stand a good chance at being accepted even though at the time of initial application I have completed 18 units (GPA: 4.0)?? I heard that there will be a period in which the UC requests to see which classes you are enrolled in for spring to verify the units/prerequisites... so they will be able to see that I'll be done on time.

Generally, applicants have completed around 30 units at application time, and I'm 4 classes short of that because I plan on transferring after 3 semesters instead of 4.

Thanks for your input!

When you apply you will list the courses that you have already taken, those that are in progress, and those that you plan on taking in the Spring 2012 semester.

Not really sure. I heard that you can only apply if u are finished half way,and can be completed by spring.

I was in your same situation, only I had 20 units at the time of application. Don’t worry about it! I transferred to Cal as a Sociology major, too. I’ll also note that I transferred in with EXACTLY 60 transferable units, finishing the last 17 units up during the Spring semester prior to transferring for the Fall. Try to finish all the pre-reqs, your quantitative reasoning, and first reading & composition before the Spring term & you will be GOLDEN (BEAR!)…like how I worked that in, don’t cha.

@Ohitsrob, how great that you were in a similar position to me! The only thing is that I haven’t yet done either reading composition classes, or my math. I intend to do them in the spring. I have very good reason as to why I haven’t done them… do you think I am still a good candidate?

Thanks for your valuable input!
