does Dartmouth look at the interim grade report of ED applicants? I don't mean first semester, i mean like the 6 or 12 week grade report... I am concerned because i have this fun little tendency of slacking off until the end of the semester, panicking, and then working on overdrive until my grades are how i want them by the very end of the semester when it counts. Will i have to change this pattern my senior year, when i want to slack off the most?

It would depend on how you stand overall. It is not unusual for Dartmouth or any school to ask for your first marking period grades especially if they are on the fence about you, if you are applying ED. GCs usually send the first marking period grades when they send their evaluations.

Keep in mind that Dartmouth runs on a quarter system. This means that every term runs for 10 weeks with midterms given in weeks 3 and 6 not including quizzes and papers given in between. If you have a "habit" of slacking off until the end of the term, you could find yourself with a lot of failing grades. If I were you, I would work on trying to drop this habit as soon as possible.

Thanks for the info!
i don't think that the problem will apply in college: it only occurs in the classes that i am not interested in, and hopefully i will be taking more interesting courses in college than at my high school!
