we made a wire transfer and the amount credited onto s's account is $10 less. I've tried to contact the cashier's office but their line is very busy. Has this happened to anyone else before? We've already added the service charge onto the amount and we've paid the service charge at our bank. There is no mention of service charge from the receiving bank so there shouldn't be any deduction at that end. Could someone has made a mistake in keying in the amount somewhere?

It might be just a mistake, so I'd check first, but my bank recently told me that international wire transfers to the US can be pretty complicated. Depending on your bank, it might need an intermediary bank, which can charge additional fees.

Hi awelex, are you in LA? Have you registered? Did you get the courses you wanted? moving in tomorrow? did you get your XL twin sheets?

there is no intermediary bank involved. I emailed them and I got a reply today which didn't answer my question at all. The person said that it's because of the $12.50 service charge. But it has nothing to do with that cause I already added the amount to it. It is like I paid $100 and they say I only paid $90. If there was a $10 service charge somewhere, it should still show that I had wired $100 and not $90. I think when we paid the service charge at our bank, it covers the two way wiring already, or whatever.

I'm definitely getting a US dollar credit card for the next payment.

Hehe, hi bmom! Yep, I'm all set! Moved in on the 6th, got all the classes I wanted, got my sheets, went to orientation. I'm loving it here!
Yeah, I don't think it's USC's fault. Have you called your bank?
