coz most of us are asking for aid i suppose? sigh, if only we were rich...

...................a Lear Jet would be dropping my decisions on my Yacht(called "TakeThisTitanic") on the shores of the Cayman Islands. sigh

If i don't get into northwestern, I know i will be completely shattered...I really don't think I will ever get over it...sigh

money is defintely THE problem for internationals. I bet small colleges would probably accept an inetrnational that can afford all the expenses even if he/she has not very good stats, just to have the diversity among students, and most probably will reject/waitlist intls who can't afford to pay.....most of us are in the latter cathegory, and sicerely, although I've received only 2 answeres so far from the 15 I've applied to(I applied to some ivy league schools, so I probably can't count on them) I'm really considering University of Bucharest as a very possible solution. sigh

Lakshmi, I would like to add that besides HYPM and Williams (the only need-blind universities to intels), any top university is VERY inclined to accepting auto-financed intels. Furthermore, auto-financed intels have a HUGE bonus in the ED round because if accepted they will have to attend, so the money is destined to go to that university and not some other top university in the RD round. This is very true even for the rest of the ivies.

I dont think I have ever realised how important money is before this..

Radhika has been accepted to Mt.Holyoke and waitlisted at Colby!
And yes, dont worry people... there are still many college decisions left... :)

I'm happy that Radhika made it into MoHo, though I sure would like it if we met in the Brown campus next fall :D (we both did ED there)

remember pppl... that decisions arent the end of the world.. Yes completely true whenlakhmi says that US deciisons are highly HIGHLY based on financial status..
Infact decions are so very favoured for paying intels . BUt for ones who need aid.. no matter what ur ranking or position or quality or stats are.. u will always be looked at with gr8est skepticism..

thats the truth and irony of asking for aid at US colls.. for them intel asking money is like """' whoa.. why is this dude asking money..isnt he supposed to pay us rather than we pay him..afterall thats how we get our dollars..""

BUt welll that is what makes it furthermore so interesting.. after u get the big or even normal acceptance with aid.. u r at the top of the world .. coz with aid admission in US is a biggg deed and well a gr8 achievement to celebrate..

remember ... its not over till the end.. and the end aint here yet. so ppl try to mantain the calm and all will b as awesome as ever..

SM

rejected by Colby...

well I am not very dissapointed

St. Francis College accepted me with scholarship and I am very pleased with it... :D

Congrats! :) I told ya u will make it somewhere good! remember?

yes! you've told me that i will get into St. Francis :)

you were right

I hope that you will get into Dartmouth :)

This year our applicant pool was the largest, most highly qualified, and most diverse group in the Colleges history.

Haha, they said that in your MHC mail? 'Twas in my F&M mail too. :p

thats the same damn statement they put in every damn letter

trite stale hackeneyed boring mundane pointless :p

theyre gonna say that next year too

Seriously, I've getting so dang worried here. I've got 6 rejections, 1 waitlist out of the 22 colleges I applied to. I just hope that the 7 don't replicate themselves.

Please?

Oh, and yeah, I AM asking for full aid. Isn't it crap that we, who have (as in my case) spent an additional gap-year applying to the US, will get rejected 'coz we don't have the money to pay for college? I mean, why do they even THINK we're applying to them in the first place.

Dayum.

If you don't get in- don't automatically blame money as a scrapegoat.

its a sad story that alotta people have to tell unfortunately .. but the world doesnt move unless theres money .. unless youre a really brilliant person or smth

I'm not blaming money outright. I'm blaming it as a factor. I'm pretty sure my essays stank anyway. sigh Anybody, right now, feel like they want to kill themselves?

Kjoodles... money is usually the scapegoat. She is requesting for a full ride... and colleges are not as willing to give full rides as before. You would need a little bit of family contribution to the college.
