International Residential College?

I'm going to be dorming in the IRC this fall, as a freshman, and I'm just wondering what to expect. How are the rooms, suites, etc? Facilities? Dorm life and vibe? Anything would be helpful. :) thanks!

I personally didn’t live in IRC but I was often in there visiting friends or sleeping there for nights at a time. The suites consist of 4 rooms and each room is shared by two people. There are two bathrooms, 4 people to each bathroom. The rooms are pretty big and clean. There is one closet for each person, one desk per person, one mini-fridge. IRC is pretty quite compared to other dorms. Since IRC is composed of mainly suites, people tend to socialize mostly within their suites or the suites around them. However, it honestly depends on what type of person you are. If you like to socialize and introduce yourself, you will meet lots of people. In general though, IRC tends to be more quiet than other dorms.

IRC is the 2nd newest dorm after PRB, built around ~7 years ago, its known for being generally quiet and suite style as ViterbiTrojan said above. Suite style tends to be less social than traditional dorms due to the rooms within rooms that create isolation but people tend to leave their suite doors open if they are in their room. Its above one of the dining halls so you don’t have to walk far but you will get bored of it with time, especially in Spring. Its not really close to most classes but nothing more than a 10 min or less walk, shorter with a bike or long board. There is a decently large study room on the first floor if you don’t want to study in your room or the library.
