I am an international student currently living in the U.S.

SAT's
CR-670
Math-730
W-710

Haven't taken but expecting SAT II around 750

I need financial aid and my family can pay around $15000 max for each year. Ready to take loans if necessary.
Want to career in biomedical engineering.
Majority of EC in community service such as hospitals and key club. I have been in student government and held 3-4 leadership positions.

Can you suggest me some universities on where to apply

Current list- John Hopkins, Rutgers(New Brunswick campus), Georgia Tech, Columbia

Is John Hopkins a good match? Or I need higher scores?

I have

200+ Volunteer hours at a nearby hospital
100 hours in schools Key Club- - - Secretary
Student Government - - - Committee Chairperson
National Honor Society
Mathletics
4-5 Academic+Volunteer awards
Straight A's since 9th grade (currently in 11th)
Are these EC's good enough for a high university? (No sports though)

AP's taking or will take during high school
1) AP Calc AB
2) AP Calc BC
3) AP Chem
4) AP Physics
5) AP Biology

Will not taking any English or Social Studies AP's hurt my chance getting into Biomedical Engineering at a high university like John Hopkins?
Can you also suggest me universities that are match, reach, and safeties?

Here are the 2009 biomedical engineering rankings for grad schools (but undergrad shouldn't be that much different)

Johns Hopkins

Georgia Tech
(Tie) University Of California - San Diego

Duke University

University Of Washington

Massachusetts Insitute Of Technology

Boston University
(tie) University Of Pennsylvania

Case Western Reserve University
(tie) Rice University

C'mon BU and Case Western and Washington are easy to get into. Case Western takes 70% of people a year. If your grades are reasonable, based on your test scores you should be at least be able to get into Case or Georgia Tech

Biomed engineering is the most difficult major to get into at JHU. As an international seeking FA without tippy-top scores, it's a long shot. And grad school rankings are NOT equivalent to undergrad.

I'm considering biomedical engineering or civl engineering and I'm applying to Purdue and Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is in my opinion better than Purdue because it is much more focused on bioengineering. There are 7 hospitals around Pittsburgh and it has a world renowned medical school so that's why bioengineering is the strongest program at Pitt and one of the top 20 schools for that. Also Pitt is in a big city while Purdue is in....cornfields haha

I know grad school rankings are not the same, but they can give you somewhat of an idea what schools are good at bioengineering. It's kinda impossible to rank schools anyways

Financial Aid is a problem but if the state university costs around $25000-30000 then I am ready to take some loans. So, unless it costs like $50,000, I am fine with low cost public universities(but should be good academically).
