International Student. TOELF test date problem

I am an international student from Portugal and I intend to apply to several US colleges. I've taken the SAT and ACT a couple times, now, and got the results I wanted. I have my applications almost entirely filled except for one thing: my TOEFL test result, which is required by most colleges.

My situation is that, up until October I was focused on the ACT and SAT tests. Being so, I left my TOEFL for November, since results take up to 10 days and they have the test pretty much every weekend. Except in Portugal, the only center, in Lisbon, for some reason, just decided to cancel all November and December dates all of the sudden. Now here I am, with everything ready except for my required TOEFL.

I have two options now. First, I could submit the application as it is, and submit the TOEFL result by mid-January (I don't know what the admissions offices policies are on that, but I wanted to know if anyone know the general rule). In the other case, I would have to go take the test in SPAIN, which I really really don't want to....

Thanks for your help.

I’m an international student too.
But, many schools didn’t require toefl unless you got SAT reading score lower than 600.
If you got around 650 or something, I think you will be fine. But, high toefl score over 105 will make you look better.

I DO need the TOELF for some of the colleges I am applying to though, independently on the SAT/ACT score

There is no “general rule”. You’ll have to contact each college, explain your situation, and ask whether a January test will suffice…
