As the topic states I'm an international student, from Norway, looking to pursue my dream of going to college.

I'm not really sure how the colleges translate my grades from norwegian to american, or if they perhaps weighten my SAT score over my gpa.

I graduated with a 4.0 out of 6.0 norwegian GPA (there was no graduates in my school that graduated with a gpa of 5.5 or higher, and i went to a really good and competitive school) and after doing some research i found out this would translate into a 3.0ish GPA (I'm not sure if this actually is the case, though). I got a 1900 on my SAT the first time I took it but at my second try im really confident in exceeding a 2000 score.

I like partying, people, and socialising. Also, my family got deep pockets so money is not an issue, if that matters.

So what im looking for is some advice. Where do I have a realistic shot at getting in? What schools would you recommend (that i have a shot at getting in to)? Also, I would appreciate any information in general you got about the admission of international students.

No, I’m applying for fall 2014 (at least that’s my plan).

Thanks for the help so far guys, and I will indeed look into NYU.
Does anyone have any colleges to recommend in lets say Florida or California? Or somewhere else with alot of sun?

So I’ve been looking into the CSU’s lately, mainly SDSU, CSULB, CSUN, CSUF and CSUDH. It seems to me that most of the CSU’s are commuter colleges. I would however like to go to a college with good dorm offers and a great campus-life, where many of the students are living on-campus and you are getting the traditional “college feeling/experience”. A decent greek system and social scene is also preferrable. Do any of you have any information regarding which CSU’s comes out ahead given my wishes? I’ve also looked into Arizona State and this seems to match my preferrences pretty good, any opinions on that university?

University of Arizona–pretty good school, lots of parties, located in very very sunny location
University of Miami–located in a great beach town, fun and diverse student body, good academics
University of Denver–excellent economic and business program, very sunny but cold location
University of Florida–good school, good sports, fun atmosphere
Tulane–excellent school outside of New Orleans
USC–big reach, but great sports, great academics and fun atmosphere
