International Student

I really want to integrate a university in spring 2020, cant permit myself to wait bc of my parents

I teach English for Academic Purposes (EAP) at a college in the US. From your writing, I think that you need about six months of intensive English in order to get ready to study here. You should look for an intensive English program that has classes on a US college or university campus. Many of those programs will offer you conditional admission at that campus and at other colleges and universities. If you pass the highest level of the English classes, you will not need to take the TOEFL or SAT in order to be admitted at one of the participating colleges or universities. So yes, if you apply to one of those programs right now, you could be studying English within a month or two, and if everything goes well, you could be studying at a university in January. One organization to look at is ELS.edu. You also can check the websites of the universities mentioned in this thread, to see what the requirements are for admission to their EAP programs. And, if you contact the EducationUSA office in Paris, I am sure that they will have more suggestions for you too.

Idk if penn state, vtech are proposing this program i will check

Guys, after discussing with my parents i have some questions. We based our discussion through out the fact that i will be ‘’ accepted ‘’ at virginia tech. We want to know if i can maybe have at least 2000 dollars financial aids per year? Can i also have the opportunity to work on campus to maybe have some money? Do they offer sprign 2020 school year?

They don’t. Freshmen are generally not offered Spring admission.
Some universities from the list provided may be offered summer admission (starting in June instead of August).
As mentioned above you could start this Fall (don’t know if you could start Spring 2020) through an intensive Academic English program.
vTech Alternative Pathways requires a low-ish TOEFL and required no SAT.
Some with Penn State IECP.
Use your search engine.

@ilvermornyisolt – as an international student you’re allowed to work on campus 20 hours per week. (Of course, you must find this job yourself, no one will just give it to you.) Campus jobs do not pay very much, so this will not be a significant amount of money. But it could pay for your books and some smaller expenses.

No one here can tell you if and how much financial aid any school will give you.

This fall will be impossible due to personal problems… Im going to apply this summer to get in a university in August 2020. Is this possible? Because as you said spring admissions isnt possilbe in my case so its maybe ‘’ worth ‘’ to study all summer long, apply for toefl and sat in october and apply before november?

You have been give really good advice on your other thread, so I am going to turn your question around:

Imagine that you are the Dean of Admissions at Harvard. Your admissions team will read about 43,000 applications for 2,000 offers. Most of those 43,000 applicants have amazing grades, test scores, and awesome accomplishments. Some of those 43,000 have parents who went to Harvard and/or gave Harvard millions of dollars. Some of those 43,000 are athletes that our coaches want. So, maybe I can say yes to 1,500 applicants- and I have to say no to the other 41,000 applicants.

What about your application would make me say ‘yes’ to you? what do you bring to the community? The only reason you have given so far is that you have a dream- but what sets you apart from every student with a dream? Right now we have 1 student here from France- are you one of the best and the brightest in your country? and, how can I be sure that you are academically ready? your written english is uneven, and your marks (which vary from 2.6-3.0, depending on your post) don’t indicate that you are a superstar at schoolwork.

This same question is true for Stanford, Berkeley, and all of the other famous name schools.

I want a Lamborghini, but my budget reality says Renault. You want a fancy name university, but your stats and need for financial aid say ‘find someplace that wants you enough to give you enough money to attend’. That is not going to be the fancy names.

You can keep opening threads, but the answer won’t change.

Aplications for fall 2020 admissions will start to open in the late summer or early fall of 2019.

Spring admissions might be possible for you, but you need to check each university website to find out if they admit freshmen in the spring. Some do.

^I’ve not found it for the universities he’s interested in.
He could start earlier if he applies for Summer Session/Summer Start at his favorite universities, he’d thus start a bit earlier than August even if it wouldn’t be January. (Generally summer session starts in June).

OP:
yes it’s possible. It’d be better to study starting now, then take the SAT or ACT in May-June though, to have an idea of how high you’ll score, then devise a roadmap to your desired score from that first score. Getting rid of the TOEFL before August (application season) is also important.

Thank you so much !! You guys are here every single time

MY PLAN :

TOEFL AND SAT in Middle September.
Then i will have results in October, and then i will send my application to universities before November 1 deadline.
Is this plan ok? Or i have to take tests earlier? TOEFL is impossible for me during summer so im obliged to take in september. And same for the SAT. Will i be late? thanks for your future answers

There’s no SAT session that I know of in September, only the ACT.
Also, French students tend to perform poorly on the test, so that thy typically need 2 or 3 attempts. I would recommend you take the test in May or June to have a baseline score before the October test. Taking the test just once, in October, is extremely risky.
