Hey, what other international universities are there which are like IUB in germany, and APU in Japan? As in universities which
a) follow the american system of education
b) have decent fin aid
c) doesn't require one to know the country's language...as in the campus is basically an english speaking community...

some unis with less aid:
St. Loius Uni - Madrid Campus
Webster University - Vienna Campus
Huron University - London
John Cabot University - Rome
American University in Paris

hey, thx. Are they good, as in internationally recognized? Cause i know american university in paris is below average, at least that's what i heard...

IUG is internationally recognised, some say even better than IUB. As about the other I think they're not in the top tier - but I would not know how to evaluate them, because I did not do very much research into them.
Also, at the graduate level there is Soros's CEU (Central European University) in Budapest, which gets some name recognition.
I also heard some stuff about Charles University in Prague, maybe some english-language courses, but I don't think it runs on the American system. Also, if we stray away from the American system, there are some good English-language universities in Turkey, with A LOT of money. Check out Koc University and Sabanci University.

How good is Webster University abroad? In Vienna and Geneva? Is it good? or is it just full of kids on year abroads? Is it respected? Which is better, Vienna or Geneva?

Indian Institute of Tech. is very good, but no one likes to acknowledge them because IIT is generally more competitive and has higher undergraduate standards (envy is the reason) than most other "highly acclaimed" schools.

espiesior, from my knowledge people applying to IIT sit an examination right? I heard about the huge competition - but it's simply not the same thing in terms of selectivity when you have people submitting applications like they do for American colleges and when you have people taking an exam (like is the system for IIT or for Romanian Unis, for instance). We too have universities with "selectivity" of 3%, but it is not the same - because it's very easy to take the exam, as opposed to completing the grueling application. I do not mean to disparage IIT or anything, but I would not haste to put it above any prestigious American institution.

Completing the grueling application ? Come on. It's quite easy to complete an application for an american college or university and that's because you have plenty of time (most colleges will allow you to send missing stuff after the dead line is over) and you can get help, read these message boards, write essays apologizing for low grades .And pay for professional admission counseling. In contrast those universities (where people have to sit for an examination) only give you one shot. it's probably a three hour exam that usually can be taken ONLY once a year. you can't submit solutions after the exam is over and nobody cares if you have ADD or something. and you probably you aren't even allowed to use a calculator during the exam.

bogoro, I have never heard of a romanian university with such a low acceptance rate. I know that University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj (which should be one of the most competitive schools) practically has open doors, even those applicants with 5 out of 10 in the entrance exam can get in. of course, twenty years ago it was another thing.

If you had to rank these universities, how would you rank them (only rank the ones that you do know about, ignore those that you don't know):

(FYI, I'm interested in International Relations/Affairs/Politics)

Jacobs University Bremen
Franklin College Switzerland
Schiller University Madrid
Webster University Vienna
John Cabot University Rome
American University of Paris
American University of Rome
(you can add any university that has IR to this list)
