Internationals, how do you cope with tuition?

so employment leads to permanent residency...hmmm interesting. And I have to have some guy to sponsor me like how I sponsor those African kids through world vision a dollar a day program...

The itchy thing about employment for me is that i'd prefer working no where other than the white house, or the cia, doesn't really matter, one of the twoo. Any ideas?

only u.s. citizens are allowed to work at the white house. the cia likes people who know a foreign language that many people they want to hire don't e.g. arabic

Kriti: it's difficult to use your name when i'm trying to argue with you because it kind of makes the argument uncomfortably personal and i hate arguing with... people

the cia doesn't just hire interns like...that!

YOU HATE ARGUING WITH PEOPLE?

Never would've guessed.

i do actually. online arguing is fine as long as it doesn't get too hurtful or vicious. i have a bad habit of poking fun and driving people to the edge without actually arguing. sorry, i admit it's a bad habit. and i've been punched in the ribs enough times for it!

ah, if you weren't way up the coast, i'd punch you in the ribs.. with a knife =). i like arguing, but in person, online is boring >.<.

blessed with full tuition and housing expenses paid by my father's company, I love his job

well, Brazil has this program called Funda

I'd get 23 000 $ from the Norwegian government. 15 000 $ loan, 8000 $ grant.
I'd pay approx. 3000 from my own earnings, and as for the remaining 20 000, I just hope Yale or Princeton will be generous with me.

I'll probably get a huuge family contribution that I'll never be able to pay. All Norwegian education is free, and it is not common to save money for your childrens education and it is basically unheard of that parents are to pay for their children's education. So my future Yale or Princeton education is really just me applying to see if I can get in..

Malin, don't be so pessimistic. You can use your loan to cover the EFC - they won't count your loan as an asset. Trust me, I'm on a Swedish loan and Yale counted mine. Just like you I was assuming they'd treat it as purely governmental aid, but after considering an additional loan I stopped myself and realized that the loan part of our gov. aid is optional. Thus, they will never reduce your scholarship on the grounds that you COULD take out that loan.

Make sure to only put down the grant amount in your finaid application!!! Don't do what I did, I'm still waiting for the finaid to get sorted out now that they told me I shouldn't have included the loan part to begin with.

Yeah, at least your government gives you aid. And what frrrph said.

yeah! our govt. doesn't care abt students going abroad...and rightfully so!

Our government doesn't even care about students staying home. That's a bit problematic.

To answer the OP. For me, it's a merit need-based scholarship at Berkeley (Regents) that equates to me paying about $18,000. :)

i pay 0. sounds like something i'll get in my isc!

Our government doesn't care about much, does it?

And that's just taemi being a snob and bragging about Haahvaashd. They have this policy that kids whose parents have an income below $60,000 / yr don't need to pay anything. So he doesn't pay anything.

:) i love being poor!!!

Yeah, and you love showing off.

Someone jealous?

No, b@r!um, me and taemi just love annoying each other. It's kind of an inside joke.
