I've read on the NYU dorm website that all dorms have an internet cable, and that the use of routers are strictly prohibited. Does this mean that in a dorm room (with a roommate or two), only one computer can be on the internet at a time?

If so, are there certain specific freshmen dorms that may have full internet access for multiple people (preferably wireless).

Also, where do most students prefer to study? I know this question will depend on the individual's preferences, but where would be the most convenient and quiet place to study? Would it be the Library, or the study lounge in one's dorm, or in the dorm room itself?

Although they are installing wireless routers in Lafayette dorm, not sure about the others. We used a wireless router throughout the year anyway, it doesn’t really matter. I think they just don’t want non nyu people using it.

Stern has really great study areas. The classrooms in Tisch Hall and Kmec are often used throughout the night especially during exam times. There are lots of dry erase boards, projectors, and computers. If you aren’t in Stern you can just ask a friend who is, and use his/her information to get internet access in the buildings. Bobst is really popular but some people don’t like its atmosphere as much.

@rodney I believe the routers are being installed in June or July. There are two internet access outlets per room I believe in Lafayette.
