Internet in dorms

So I know this is somewhere online because I saw forever ago, but honestly, I hate NYU's new website. I can't find anything. Okay, I have to admit it is pretty and does cool new tricks...

So all I was wondering is I know there are Wifi lounges or whatever, but what about in our rooms? Are there an internet jacks we can hook up to laptops in the rooms? I heard Boadband devices from places like cricket are forbidden, is that true and if so why?

They’re “forbidden”, but everyone brings in wireless routers anyway. (I needed a router to play World of Warcraft, lolol.) Just hide it when they do room inspections. There are four ethernet jacks in each room, but they’re always in annoying places.

I doubt that’s true…this is just cellular data and wouldn’t have any effect on NYU. But there’s really no point in using one of these to be honest. Just bring a router

Everyone brings routers, however NYU has been installing their own wireless routers in dorms this past year. I believe they didn’t allow them before because its NYC and with its high density population many people “steal” internet which would slow down connections. Just make sure you put in a password.
