Internet?

Oh, so I'm guessing the choice is between a wireless router or a ethernet cord?
Which one is better? I'm guessing the cord is less expensive but the router provides more flexibilty.

I believe for Calbears you have to re-login every 2 hours or something. Also, the wireless doesn't work too well inside the dorms.. ethernet for dorms definitely.

I think tneiba is asking about what to use inside his/her dormroom. Ethernet cable is cheap but the laptop is tethered to the cable as you move it from desk to bed, etc. Installing your own wireless router in the dormroom gives you the cable-free flexibility of moving your laptop around but the cost is higher than for the cable (which you still need to connect the access point to the wall).

Both are seen by Cal as ethernet connections in the dormroom, no need to re-login as tneiba was not connecting to Cal's access points but to his/her own that happens to be cabled into the wall jack in the room.

Cable flexibility? The distance between your desk and your bed is no farther than 5 feet. The practicality and cost of an ethernet cable definitely outweighs those of getting a wireless router.

Thank you, rider. That was what I was asking about.
Well, I'm guessing I don't have to move my laptop that much anyways so it'll be the ethernet cord for me.
