Do new internships come out every quarter? The ones I want say fall, winter, spring, summer. I want to apply for an internship after Fall quarter, I would want to start in winter. Do I have to apply for these internships for winter now, or will there be new ones by winter?

there are probably internships going on every quarter. Check out Bruinview. There's also an internships link in MyUCLA.

This is an incredibly broad question. What is the context of your search? Are you strictly looking through BruinView/Career Center...? Monster.com? XYZ company where you have ABC connection(s)? Not only that - what kind of internship are you searching for? What's your major? What do you want to do? What's your previous experience? etc etc

I think you should talk to the Career Center when you get to UCLA so you can find out about upcoming fairs, employers-who-might-be-visiting and giving presentations, and etc. I've visited them a few times even in Spring Quarter and from my impression, a lot of internship-related events and opportunities start to crop out significantly during Fall Quarter.

If not - its always nice to get a head start or to increase your awareness.

^omg its you.

and yep. each company has their own policy/program. some will be structured with very clear start/end times. others are more like real jobs where you start and just go until you're done. totally depends from organization to organization. some industries are more likely to have structured programs than others. the size of the company will also factor in on this too.

my best advice for finding an internship is to become well acquainted with craigslist (depending on your industry, some sections are better than others), monstertrak.com, and the ucla career center website. if you're serious about landing a position, check every day and apply as you find stuff you're interested in. make sure your resume (even if there isn't much on it) is awesome and draft a good cover letter.

also, know that companies with more structured programs will start to recruit pretty far in advance. so like sept/october for a winter position, march/april for a summer position, etc. these programs tend to fill up fairly fast. i don't necessarily recommend those types of internships though. positions with less structured starting points are more flexible.
