intersession (winter) study abroad?

as a NYS resident, i can study abroad through the SUNY system for winter session. i'm interested in going to ghana, jamaica, or one of the latin america ones, though i'm mostly interested in the first 2.

has anyone went with any of these programs? if so, please tell me about your experience :)

and if you have additional info about accomodations, time for additional activities/exploring, number of students, what the profs were like, etc, i'd greatly appreciate it. thanks!

bump. no one has studied abroad during winter? seriously?

Brockport has a winter intersession to Greece and Italy that my daughter is planning on taking. you can go on the Brockport site and check it out.

I think that Brockport and Geneseo offer many of the winter programs…Geneseo’s seem to be more service-learning oriented, is that what you’re interested in? Perhaps you could post on that forum or just contact the Study Abroad office at the sponsoring school! Some of the schools have detailed itineraries and photos/comments from prior attendees on their websites.

hmm well i really wanted to do ghana or jamaica, both of which are offered through stony brook. i think ghana is cool just because i’m not sure that i’d ever go to africa and do work/research like that again, where as i can always go scuba diving in jamaica. i guess the point is to go somewhere i won’t be going to later to do the same things. i’m sure i’ll travel when i’m older, but if i go to africa i’ll be doing safaris and hang gliding over waterfalls and not doing research, you know?
