Interview advice

I have my interview this weekend, I feel pretty good but it's going to be my first college interview. Any tips besides the usual "be yourself"?

Awfully tough to give you better advice that be yourself! Really. Think about it.

dont swear… the biggest challenge i face when ppl tell me to be myself

@JRswish- may be “be yourself” is not applicable to everyone after all;-)

lol. well any advice for me?? (sorry for my takeover attempt of ur thread @lukelev07)

This is what I had told S and it was very effective in all his interviews. Be casual, humorous when the opportunity presents itself, intersperse your queries from serious and very relevant things about the school to atypical ones. And make eye contact all the time, and look very interested.

Finally, send an email the same day thanking the interviewer profusely. Typically, they send the report by end of day or next morning.

wow that was actually good advice… thanx

Wow thanks! We could just make this a general Northwestern interview thread as well!

It’s at Starbucks, so do I buy a drink or what?

S too had some of his interviews at Starbucks. He didn’t buy any drink though the interviewers did.

In my (non-northwestern) interview, I waited for the interviewer to order a drink before I did. Don’t order anything more than a small drink and don’t offer to pay.

Other than that, follow NorthwesternDad’s great advice in post #6 and you’ll be golden.

My son’s Northwestern interview was extremely casual and more of a get to know you meeting. It was certainly not intimidating.

Ask your interviewer whether s/he prefers Lou Malnati’s or Giordano’s, and why. :)

Ah I just finished my interview! It went wonderfully! My interviewer was beyond relaxed, which made it all the better…We probably talked for a good hour…Cant wait until the end of march!

Anyone know exactly when decisions are released?

Good luck, Lukelev07
