Interview Requests

Did anyone request an off campus interview and not hear back at all? D did this in late December and received an email confirm but has not heard at all from any alum or the school.

My son also requested an off campus interview and never heard back.

Thanks. That is reassuring. They can’t really hold it against the kids if they don’t have interviewers. Good luck to your son!

Don’t worry about the interviews. My son requested one in Nov '17, didn’t hear back and he got in EA round with significant merit aid. We are a couple of hours flight from Cleveland, so maybe they don’t have alum available in my area for the interview. We also haven’t visited the campus before the application. Son only attended a college fair with CWRU, among the tens of schools there. He did sign up the contact sheet at the fair and had one simple correspondence regarding an application question. That said, we always check the email CWRU sent during and after the application. Good luck to all applicants out there.

Re: Alumni Interviews…Alumnis are volunteers. First there have to be alumni in your area. I do interviews but there are only so many I can do so not everyone gets one. I choose or get assigned interviewees based on proximity. You don’t hear back because the students are on a list and an alumni could select to interview them any time during the application period.

Also if you look at the CWRU common data set, “Level of applicant’s interest” has gone from Important to Considered as of last year.

Other ways to show interest:

Thanks, @bopper. We did visit, so I hope that helps. I just didn’t want to be penalized for failing to receive an interview.

I think interviews have two purposes: To round out your application and to be able to ask questions about the University

Same thing happened with my son - he requested an interview in our city and never heard back, even after calling twice. We ended up taking him out there for an interview. I’m just glad to hear we’re not the only ones.
